Nizam Al-Mulk translates as “Order of the Realm”, the honorific title of Abu Ali al-Hasan ibn Ali, a powerful and respected vizier. His name became synonymous with good governance across the Islamic world. Born in Tus in modern Iran, he is best known for his Book of Government and defenses of Muslim orthodoxy. He founded number of madrasas in major cities of the Seljuk empire including Baghdad and Nishapur. While Nizam al-Mulk was assasinated in 1092, his legacy was continued by his twelve sons, who all attained governorships and other high offices.
