Known as al-Mantiqi (the Logician), Al-Sijistani was a native of Khurasan who migrated to Baghdad. There he led a neo-Platonist humanist seminar and advocated a strict separation of science and the humanities from religion. Often confused with Abu Yakub Al-Sijistani, another Islamic neo-Platonist who lived at roughly the same time.
